Competitive bidding: supporting partner’s overcall

Many of the same concepts apply to supporting partner’s suit when they have opened and when they have overcalled.

• Direct raises in competition are weak and pre-emptive.
• Cue bids are used to show good (value) raises.
• Jump bids in competition show a good 5+ suit with 4-card support for partner EXCEPT when partner has opened the bidding with 1C.
