Community Bridge Club was established by Jack and Lily Ross, David Scott, Alf Lindner & others in April 1985.
Initially the Club played in a hall behind the tennis courts at Light St Dianella on Tuesday and Friday nights. Attendance was high and space limited. At one stage it was considered that only Members be allowed to attend.
At the 8th AGM held on 2nd April 1993, Alf Lindner proposed, successfully, that Jack Ross be made a Life Member in recognition of his work for the Club. At the same meeting, it was proposed, also successfully, that Lilly Ross be honoured with Life Membership. Jack passed away in October 1995. Lilly passsed away recently in Feb 2015.
At a Committe meeting held on 19th Jan 1999, it was suggested that Alf Lindner be made a Life Member at the next AGM to be held on 16th March 1999. At that AGM, this proposal was moved by Aidie Silbert and carried unanimously.
In June 1997 an informal approach was made to Dianella Bridge Club to amalgamate, but it was rejected because it would "not be financially viable". In June 1999, Dianella Bridge Club wrote suggesting amalgamation, but this was rejected.
The first End of Year party was held at the Mt Lawley Golf Club in 2000. This has since become an annual event and was organised every year by Phyllis Barras until her sad Passing.
At a Committee Meeting held on 39th March 2005, Charlotte Shulman suggested that the Club hold a Saturday afternoon session. This proposal was accepted and the first Saturday session was held on 30th April 2005. It was a success and is now the only playing session for the Club.
