Halifax Bridge World is a not for profit bridge club organized to promote the game of bridge through lessons and games.

We are run by a volunteer Board of Directors.

We offer daily duplicate Bridge games for all levels. We also offer beginner lessons that allow you to learn how to play in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere.

We're famous for our social events with delicious food, fun, and prizes. At Halifax Bridge World, everyone is welcome and we always have a great time!

We are open Sunday to Friday for regular games, and Saturdays for special events.

Halifax Bridge World is proud to offer:

  • Plenty of free parking in our spacious lot
  • Air-conditioned
  • Ergonomically-designed seating
  • Full kitchen -- always a full pot of hot coffee!
  • Full teaching program by experienced and professional instructors
  • Wheelchair accessibility
  • Provincial, Canadian, and World events

The Gordie Maser Memorial Championship

The Family of the late Gordie Maser wanted to do something special for Halifax Bridge World as it meant so much to their father. They have graciously donated to HBW, in his memory, a new computer and printer.  With our favourite game so reliant on technology we are thrilled to have the most up to date equipment to run our games.

Gordie was a well respected and well liked club and tournament director throughout the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Mr. Maser always wore a suit and tie to bridge. He did bring a lot of class to the club. Gordie worked many tournaments with his friend Karl Hicks. They both had a great sense of humour. The tournaments were always well run and fun! The competition was fierce yet friendly and the tournaments showcased the best of bridge.

Halifax Bridge World is pleased to offer The Gordie Maser Memorial Championship 2 session Open Pairs Game on Saturday, February 22, 2025. The winning pair will have their names engraved on a plaque to be kept at the club. This will be an annual event.

🎓 Educational Fund Month

February is Educational Fund month. These E.F. games award extra masterpoints. $12 pp. Special Saturday games this month. The Gordie Maser Championship Open Pairs is a new event for HBW. Lunch will be offered.

The ACBL has introduced the "Clubhouse" for online games. All of February and March 45% of the fees will be returned to F2F and VACB clubs where you have played. So from the $8 BBO for these games over $5 (Canadian dollars) would be returned to our club. (When you play in an ACBL World game, almost all the fees go to BBO, with nothing to support your local clubs.) 😭
