Competitive Bidding Lessons

COMPETITIVE BIDDING will be taught by Audrey Craig on four Monday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 this coming November.

BALANCING

When the opponents conk out at the two level, usually it means that you and partner have about the same combined strength as your opponents. As Eddie Kantar would say "Should you let them play there or should you stir the pot and reopen the bidding".

The sessions focus on the advantages and disadvantages of balancing and when you should consider balancing.

Sessions will be held on Monday, November 6 and 13 from 1:00 to 3:00.

UNUSUAL NO TRUMP and MICHAELS CUE BID

A review of the Michaels Cue Bid will be followed by the uses of the Unusual Two No Trump. These are very useful tools, typically reserved for hands with a 5-5 or longer pattern. These are excellent conventions to add to your bidding toolkit.

Sessions will be held on Monday, November 20 and 27 from 1:00 to 3:00.

To register, please complete the Registration Form on the Competitive Bidding page in the Bridge Courses tab.

Help Support Youth Bridge

Bridge is for All Ages

Rosemary Thompson will be facilitating a Youth Bridge Club at Jean Vanier Separate School from January to April 2018. Students from Grades 6 to 8 will be attending her classes from 12:15 pm to 1:10 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on January 9, 2018. Rosemary will offer some introductory bridge instructions and then coach her students through some pre-selected hands.

Youth Bridge

While Rosemary prepares and conducts her bridge classes by herself, she would definitely appreciate some volunteers to help supervise and advise the children as they play their pre-set hands. If you would like to volunteer to help kids learn to play bridge then please email Rosemary at: rosemary@handrigan.ca  or call her at 519-473-6572.

Let’s help Rosemary introduce bridge to youth, the game we all so much enjoy.
