Longer-standing club members will remember Martin Cantor, who played at & for Sheffield Bridge Club for many years before retiring and moving to Germany.

Since the 2020 lockdown there has been a regular, weekly friendly game* on BBO between Sheffield Bridge club and Bielefeld, which Martin has been instrumental in running and maintaining.

As some of you will also know, Martin was diagnosed with brain cancer last year. He has undergone a gruelling series of treatments. After some setbacks, he reports his current prognosis...

"Great news. Tumours have gone except for one small thing which they think is dead ie just a scar. I need regular check ups and need probably best part of a year to get back to something like full health, but I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks everyone for your messages of support."

We all wish him well for his continued recovery.
