We have received the sad news that Simon Rush passed away on 19 December from Leukemia. Simon joined the club more than 40 years ago though his membership in more recent decades was intermittent. Simon was a builder and did much to keep the club building sound.

Over 30 Sheffield Bridge Club members enjoyed a festive drink at the Stag’s Head on Thursday 12th December with 26 of us staying on for a sit down meal.We certainly had a great night and enjoyed socialising outside of the club - we also had the added bonus of Magic Tricks performed at the tables by our Chairman Richard!Thank you to Christine Parker for taking the photos below.

We have recently been informed of the passing of Don Bourne on 27th November after a fall. Don had been a member of the club since 1965 and played regularly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
We send our condolences to Brenda and his family.

We are sad to report the passing of Ken Jones. Ken had been diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of cancer and died on 16th July. He had been a member of the club for more than 35 years and played in many of the club sessions.

Sheffield A has won the Summer season of the Online Yorkshire League for Teams of 4.
The team were 18 VPs ahead of second place and comprised Arthur Hughes and Richard Pike with Dave Robinson and Tony Sowter, and David Fletcher with Graham Jepson. Well done, all.

Longer-standing club members will remember Martin Cantor, who played at & for Sheffield Bridge Club for many years before retiring and moving to Germany.
Since the 2020 lockdown there has been a regular, weekly friendly game* on BBO between Sheffield Bridge club and Bielefeld, which Martin has been instrumental in running and maintaining.

Dave Robinson and Tony Sowter and team mates have won the trial to represent England in the World Bridge Games in Buenos Aires in October. With David Kendrick and Malcolm Prior, they beat the tem of Paul Hackett, Brian Senior, John Holland, Alan Mould, Gunnar Hallberg and David Mossop by 25 IMPs in a 112 board match over 2 days at West Midlands BC.
