You are playing at the club and starting to win your first partial points. That is exciting. You are seeing where members are earning different titles or ranks. What is this about?  The ACBL masterpoint plan is designed to advance your play by widening your exposure to different levels of play at different sized tournaments. You earn silver points at sectional tournaments designed to bring in people from about a 100-200 mile radius. You earn red or gold points at regional tournaments designed to bring in people from a 200-500 mile radius.
